the steps below.

Check the website
Fill in an Application Form
- Both you and the SACE Coordinator or Student Counsellor will need to fill in and sign the application form.
- The school will send the completed application form and a copy of the original community certificate/award attached to the form to SSABSA, addressed to Alvan Roman, Coordinator, Operations and Logistics.
- Teachers are advised that application forms can be submitted at anytime within the school results period.

Applying For Recognition of Self-directed Community Learning
STAGE 1 ONLY – the key steps.
Student and teacher discuss applying for recognition and make sure that this is the student’s best option for gaining SACE credit (see Flexible Options Grid)
- Teacher assists student to prepare for the interview and with completion of the application form
- School approves the application and notifies the student of arrangements for their interview
- Student is interviewed
- The school records the result and retains the application and interview documentation
- Student is informed of their result in the same way as other Stage 1 subjects
STAGE 1 AND STAGE 2 – the key steps.
- Student and teacher discuss applying for recognition and make sure that this is the student’s best option for gaining SACE credit (see Flexible Options Grid)
- Teacher assists the student to prepare for the interview and with completion of the application form. Prior to the interview, the teacher and student should work through the meaning of the Stage 1 and 2 Performance Standards to help the student maximise their chances of success.
- School sends the application form to SSABSA
- Round 1 applications are due at SSABSA by the end of Week 2, Term 2
- Round 2 applications are due at SSABSA by the end of Week 5, Term 3
- SSABSA processes the application and determines whether an interview is warranted, then contacts the school/teacher to coordinate a meeting time and place at the school (or another educational setting) with the SSABSA assessor(s) and the student
- Student is interviewed
- Assessor(s) report the recommendation to SSABSA where the result is recorded after moderation
- Student is informed of their result in the same way as other Stage 1 and 2 subjects
